Our Grant Partners
Grace Episcopal Church Foundation
The Grace Episcopal Church Foundation, Morganton, awarded a grant to REASON in September 2026 to be used for providing low-cost spay/neuter surgical fee assistance for those Burke County pet owners who may not be able to afford it.

Rostan Family Foundation
A local nonprofit, the Rostan Family Foundation, has awarded REASON a grant to support our mission of providing low-cost spay/neuter surgical fee assistance for those Burke County pet owners who may not be able to afford it.
Petrie Spaying & Neutering Foundation
In October 2026, the Petrie Foundation awarded a grant to REASON to be used for providing low-cost spay/neuter surgical fee assistance for those pet owners in Burke County who may not be able to afford it.
The mission of the Margo T. Petrie Spaying and Neutering Foundation is to support long-term solutions to pet overpopulation and reduce the number of dogs and cats euthanized annually, thereby improving the lives of companion animals in North Carolina. The Foundation makes grants to qualified charitable organizations that provide spaying and neutering services to dogs and cats.

Options for Companion Animals
Are you thinking of giving up your pet? Do you need to find your pet another home? Please know there are a number of homeless animals currently at our local shelter and rescues. Try other options before giving up on your companion pet. Spaying and neutering may help eliminate problem behaviors.
If you are thinking about adding a companion animal to your home, please check out these links to view available dogs/cats looking for a forever home: Burke County Animal Services (see also their Facebook page) and PetFinder.
Animals from a rescue are already spayed or neutered so you won’t have to worry about that expense. And they are usually available for a low-cost adoption fee.
