Knowing Your Limits

Animals, like humans, need a lot more than just food and water to survive and have a quality of life.

They need:

  • Shelter which protects them from excessive heat or cold
  • Supervision to ensure their safety
  • Daily exercise and stimulation to keep them alert
  • Routine veterinary care to keep them healthy
  • Vaccines and other medications as needed to prevent potentially fatal conditions such as heartworms
  • Trips to the vet when they become sick which may mean after-hours emergency care

These things cost money. If you are not in a position to meet these costs, it may be better not to take in an animal at all.
